Payroll Office Information
Employees will be paid in accordance with the County of Greene's approved payroll policies; and employees are encouraged to use Direct Deposit for payroll disbursement. Employees will receive voucher statements for official record of payment for hours worked and payroll deductions.
Timekeeping Records
Accurately recording time worked is the responsibility of every employee. Federal and state laws require the County of Greene to keep an accurate record of time worked in order to calculate employee pay and benefits. Time worked is all the time spend on the job performing assigned duties. All employees are required to document their hours worked on Kronos Time and Attendance System.
All non-exempt employees are required to accurately record the time they begin and end their work day, as well as the beginning time of each meal period. All work time shall be recorded on the day such work was performed.
No employee, supervisor or manager may require an employee to inaccurately report time worked. Altering falsifying, tampering with time records, recording time on another employee's time record, or other violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Payroll Deductions
The County of Greene issues paycheck bi-weekly and reserves the right to correct errors or deduct obligations due the County by an employee with a written explanation to the employee.
The law required the County of Greene to make certain deductions from every employee's compensation. Among these are applicable federal, state and local income taxes. The County of Greene must also deduct Social Security taxes on each employee's earnings up to a specific limit that is call the Social Security "wage base." The County of Greene matches the amount of Social Security taxes paid by each employee. Payroll deductions may include, but are not limited to:
• Federal Withholding Tax
• Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA)
• State Income Tax
• Local Wage Tax
• Local Services Tax
• Retirement
• Unemployment Compensation
The County of Greene takes all reasonable steps to ensure that employees receive the correct amount of pay in each paycheck and that employees are paid promptly on the scheduled payday.
