The Victim/Witness Office provides assistance to victims and witnesses of crime. This office strives to provide the best service possible to victims/witnesses of crime, including, but not limited to: informing victims of their rights, explaining the court process, filing restitution claims, and providing resources for outside services.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has enacted a Victims’ Bill of Rights which guarantees rights to victims of crime. There are also standards of service that help to ensure that victims receive information, support, and the opportunity to participate in the criminal justice system, and to make sure that victims are treated with dignity and respect.
