Responsibilities
The office also maintains the county’s 87 bridges (includes 7 covered bridges) and all county-owned facilities throughout Greene County and is responsible for major renovation projects to county buildings.
The Director assists in facilities planning, coordinates a county-wide safety program, works with outside contractors, develops and maintains ongoing and long-term facilities maintenance activities, installs common cabling systems and provides a work site for community service workers.
The office is responsible for the maintenance, repair and cleaning of all county-owned buildings and facilities, including the Ben Franklin Building, the Greene County Airport, the Greene County Courthouse, the Greene County Fairgrounds, the Greene County Jail, the Greene County Office Building, the Fort Jackson Building, the Transportation building and county pools and parks. The maintenance staff performs various duties, including heating and air conditioning, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, sewer and concrete needs; work requests for county offices; shelving and cabinetry construction; office cleaning and trash removal; fire alarm inspection and testing; fire sprinkler inspection and testing; preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment; energy-saving measures; phone line installation; fiber optic cable installation; and elevator preventative maintenance and inspection.
Additional services include maintaining all county vehicles. Our maintenance office is on 24-hour call-outs for emergency services, i.e. responding to alarms.
