Greene County Board of Commissioners

The Prison Meetings are conducted on the third Thursday of the month (except for May and August, which will occur on the second Thursday) at 11:45 AM, following the Commissioners Meetings and held in the first floor meeting room. Quarterly meetings will be held at 12:00 noon at the Greene County Prison. Meeting dates and any changes will be posted publically in the local newspaper and on the county website at www.co.greene.pa.us. The purpose of these board meetings are to review monthly business and happenings at the prison, as well as to vote on matters concerning the Greene County Prison.

Meeting Opened:
Brian Tennant called the Greene County Prison Board meeting to order at 11:45 am in the first floor meeting room of the County office building. Others in attendance were: Commissioner Zimmerman, Commissioner Coder, Chief Clerk Jeff Marshall, Warden John Kingston, Michael Kraus, Dave Balint, Cheryl Cowen, Charlotte Popielarcheck and Members of the Press. Commissioner Trader was absent.

Motions:
  1. Commissioner Zimmerman made the motion and Commissioner Coder the second to approve the minutes from March 16, 2017. Vote unanimous.
Security:
  1. Continue to house inmates from Fayette County and Washington County.
  2. The #100 door has been secured with cross bars and locks. The excess material (fencing and posts) will be used to build new SEU units and a barrier fence in (H) block yard.
Treatment:
  1. Effective April 3, 2017, Dean Virgili is now working as a full time counselor at the prison.
  2. Dean Virgili helped coordinate a domestic violence group for female inmates that meet weekly at the prison.
Training:
  1. Warden Kingston is currently at the Elizabethtown Training Academy completing a recertification course for handgun and shotgun instructor.
  2. Officers Yorko, K., Hawk, J., and Sampson, B. have completed orientation and on the job training. They are now part of the officer compliment with Yorko being hired full time, Hawk into a part time position, and Sampson a Casual Officer.
Maintenance:
  1. Day to day maintenance continues at the facility.
Financial Report:
  1. Deposits totaling $2,100.00 have been made with the Treasurerís office for March work release and weekend inmates.
  2. Fayette County currently $7,450.00 for the month of March 2017 inmate housing and has paid $22,850.00 for February inmate housing.
