Aleppo Township was formed in 1817 and organized as a township in 1821; because speculators had purchased large tracts of land with the hope of reaping large profits, settlers were unable to afford the land. Therefore, the township was sparsely populated. It is bounded on the north by Richhill Township, on the east by Jackson Township, on the south by Springhill Township, and on the west by the Pennsylvania/West Virginia state line. It is in 18th Congressional District, the 46th Senatorial District, and the 50th Legislative District of Pennsylvania.

June 4, 2014 — Presentation for the new veterans monument in Aleppo Township.
During their June 5 regular meeting, Greene County Commissioners presented a $2,000 donation to Aleppo Township to support the recent replacement of the community’s veterans monument. The new 4-piece granite monument was installed last month in Aleppo and dedicated during a ceremony on Memorial Day. It features the engraved names of nearly 300 local veterans who served in conflicts from World War I through Vietnam, with space for about 30-40 more names. Anyone with additional names of veterans from the Aleppo area can call the Aleppo Township supervisors at 724-428-3875.
