Upcoming Community Events:
November 23 & 24, 2017 — THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY NOTICE

Greene County Government Offices will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday & Friday, November 23 & 24, 2017. Exceptions to the holiday would be Emergency Management/911 Center, the Greene County Prison, and the Transportation Office.

Greene County Government Offices will reopen at 8:30 am on Monday, November 27, 2017. FMI, contact the individual offices for further information, or call the County Commissioners Office at 724-852-5210.
The Greene County Transportation Office will be closed Thursday & Friday, November 23 & 24, 2017 in observance of Thanksgiving, except for scheduled dialysis trips reserved by 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Our office will reopen Monday, November 27, 2017 at 7:00AM.

All Greene County Transportation clients should schedule NO LATER than 12:00 PM (noon) on Wednesday, November 23, 2017 for Monday, November 27, 2017.

Clients may call the office at (724) 627-6778 or 1 (877) 360-7422 for information regarding hours for their service provider.


Santa Claus and Christmas will be the focus of two upcoming activities hosted by the Greene County Department of Recreation.

Breakfast with Santa

Children and their families can enjoy a holiday meal with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the lower level of the 4-H Building at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Admission is $8 per person and includes a delicious breakfast catered by the Greene County Career & Technology Center Culinary Arts Program. Children will receive a picture with Santa, festive headwear, a special treat, and decorate a cookie Christmas tree ornament. A mailbox and letter writing station for Letters from Santa will be available during the breakfast. (Click HERE for event brochure.)

Letters from Santa
Local children may send a letter to Santa in care of the Department of Recreation and receive a personalized letter from Santa just before Christmas.

Parents are requested to send a completed letter request form with the child’s letter by Tuesday, Dec. 12 to Greene County Department of Recreation, ATTN: Santa Claus, 107 Fairgrounds Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370. The form includes the child's contact and basic information including gender, age and any gifts requested from Santa. "Dear Santa" templates and letter request forms are available online at (or see below list).

There is no fee for Letters from Santa as funding has been provided through various sponsors and fundraising efforts the Department of Recreation holds throughout the year. Requests are limited to one per child.

The holiday activities are sponsored by the Greene County Commissioners, Department of Recreation, Hartley Inn, Lola Energy and Rice Energy.

Christmas Wreath Class:

Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds, 4-H Building (downstairs), with instructor Ashlee Grandstrand. Ages 8 and up!

Holiday decorating does not seem complete until the wreath is hung on the front door! Join in an afternoon of fun and merriment as we gather to create a beautiful holiday wreath. You will learn how to create a gorgeous holiday piece to display in your home or you may want to give as a gift.

Gather your friends and family to start a new holiday tradition!All groups are welcome to join; great prizes for the judges's top 3 favorite folats! Lineup at 3:30 pm at the United Methodist Church at 256 Mt. Morris Road. Parade starts at 4:00 pm. Deadline to sign-up is Dec. 1st. Register online at Click HERE for event flyer.


It's time for Skate and Dance FRIDAYS again at the Mon View Roller Rink from 7pm-11pm weekly. Admission is $8. Skate hours: 7-9pm and Dance hours: 9-11pm.
